The Reverend Dr. Derrick A. Justice was born in Durham, NC and attended school in Hampton, Virginia. After graduating from Pembroke High School, Rev. Justice matriculated to Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, where in 1986 he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.

            Shortly after completing his undergraduate studies, Pastor Justice enrolled in North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina and successfully completed his studies in 1993, earning a Masters of Science degree in Technical Communication. Rev. Justice’s professional career began in corporate America, where he worked as a Technical Writer and as a Marketing Engineer.

            Dr. Justice is the father of two sons, Joshua, who graduated in 2015 with a degree in Technology from North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, North Carolina, and Joseph, who is a Senior at North Carolina A&T, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

            In 1994, Pastor Justice received a call to serve the Lord, and in 1999, Rev. Justice walked away from his secular career to enter into seminary at Duke University. While at the Divinity School at Duke University, Rev. Justice received many awards, including the distinguished Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Award, which afforded him the opportunity to travel and intern with many notable pastors, church leaders, and scholars, including the Rev. Dr. William C. Turner, Rev. Dr. David C. Forbes, and Bishop Will Willimon. In 2004, Derrick Justice graduated from the Divinity School with a Master of Divinity degree, earning the prestigious Jameson Jones Preaching Award, which is awarded to the top student of the class.

            After two years of teaching as an Instructor of Religion and Philosophy at Johnston Community College in Smithfield, North Carolina, Dr. Justice was called in 2006 to serve as pastor of Lillington Star F.W.B. Church in Lillington, North Carolina.

            After several years of faithfully serving as pastor of Lillington Star, Rev. Justice matriculated to United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, where in 2013 (a semester ahead of schedule) he graduated with a Doctor of Ministry degree under the mentorship of Bishop Sir. Walter Mack of Winston Salem, North Carolina.

            Today the Reverend Dr. Derrick A. Justice continues to serve faithfully as the Senior Pastor of Lillington Star F.W.B. Church, as well as works full time as an administrator at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina.

            Dr. Justice’s first book, Look Better. Feel Better. Live Better: What God Wants You To Know About Food, was published in October 2018 and is now available where all such books are sold.
